Wheel refurbishment

Here's a guide describing how to renovate your worn classic Swenor wheels, including:

Start by disassembling all parts of your old wheels. Use a vice to "press" out the parts; avoid tapping out bearings, as they can become damaged.

When reassembling the parts you tapped out from your old wheels into the new "empty" wheel, you will need a shim washer that you thread onto the axle (one on each side) before mounting the bearing on the axle.

The addition of the shim washer is because the distance between the bearing seats is 1mm longer in the new wheel, which needs to be filled. If the "gap" is not filled with the washer, the bearing will bind when you tighten the screws when mounting the wheel on the fork.

With the shim washer now installed, the bearing will naturally sit 0.5mm further out on the axle, resulting in a "wider" wheel. To "reduce" the extra width that arises, you also need to switch to thinner cover washers.

So, you need to add 2 shim washers and 2 cover washers per wheel. The parts are available for order in the store.

NOTE! If you choose to buy "complete" wheels, they will fit directly onto your Swenor skis - Alutech and fibreglass.

If you have a different brand, you should measure the exact distance between the forks; it should be 50mm. There are models that are slightly wider, 52mm, in which case you need to mount the included washer on the inside of the fork instead.
